2) 문법 (Grammar)

주제: There is / There are 구문

There is / There are 구문은 어떤 장소에 무언가가 존재함을 설명할 때 사용합니다.

1. There is + 단수 명사 (단 하나의 사물이 존재할 때)

• There is + a/an + 단수 명사
• 예문:
  • There is a bank near my house. (내 집 근처에 은행이 하나 있어요.)
  • There is a museum in the city. (도시에 박물관이 하나 있어요.)

2. There are + 복수 명사 (여러 개의 사물이 존재할 때)

• There are + 복수 명사
• 예문:
  • There are many parks in my town. (내 마을에는 공원이 많아요.)
  • There are two cinemas in this area. (이 지역에는 영화관이 두 개 있어요.)

3. 부정문 (There isn’t / There aren’t)

• There isn’t + 단수 명사 → (무언가가 존재하지 않을 때)
• There aren’t + 복수 명사 → (여러 개가 존재하지 않을 때)

예문:

• There isn’t a post office in my town. (내 마을에는 우체국이 없어요.)
• There aren’t any hospitals nearby. (근처에 병원이 없어요.)

4. 의문문 (Is there…? / Are there…?)

• Is there + 단수 명사? → 단수 형태로 질문할 때
• Are there + 복수 명사? → 복수 형태로 질문할 때

예문:

• Is there a restaurant in this building? (이 건물에 레스토랑이 있나요?)
• Are there any supermarkets nearby? (근처에 슈퍼마켓이 있나요?)

연습 문장

• 이 도시에 도서관이 하나 있어요. → There is a library in this city.
• 우리 동네에는 공원이 두 개 있어요. → There are two parks in my neighborhood.
• 근처에 병원이 없어요. → There isn’t a hospital nearby.

My city is a great place to live. There are many parks where people can relax. There is a large shopping mall with many stores and restaurants. There are also two big cinemas where you can watch the latest movies. However, there isn’t a zoo in my city, so we have to travel to another town to see animals. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to live!
